While the foxes of VulpineSmile are based on realism, there are a lot about them that are far from, that's obvious enough. Below you can find the basic foundation for which our foxes are based. This information may be edited, so keep on the lookout for a notification about that.

===========================================================================

  • Male foxes are typically referred to as tods, while females are known as vixens.
  • Foxes are mature at 7 months old and typically live to around 6 years, though it has been known for them to live longer.
  • Foxes are omnivorous, surviving off of other animals, insects, berries, and fruits. They do no typically kill for pleasure and will bury the leftovers of a meal for later. They have sharp teeth in the front with flat teeth in the back, perfect for their diet.
  • Foxes are generally small creatures, making them susceptible to predators such as wolves, large cats, large birds, and various types of diseases.
  • Foxes are highly adaptable, enabling them to colonize nearly every biome. A fox's appearance usually acts as camoufladge for whatever environment it lives in, though a fox can learn to live in an environment where its coat may not be so discreet.
  • Foxes have a keen sense of smell and excellent eyesight. They can reach speeds up to 23 miles per hour, and are exceptional during both day and night.
  • Foxes are severely territorial and scent-markers are respected by both Troop members and outsiders a like, although trespassing and raids do happen. Foxes are generally nonaggressive unless provoked, and are more likely to be aggressive to strangers (foxes who do not carry a familiar scent or a scent of a rival Troop). Boundaries are marked by urine and scent glands found in a fox's tail.
  • Foxes that are apart of the three troops follow the Vulpine Code, a set of principles passed down though generations so that a civilized setting is maintained. Foxes who break this code are punished, rarely by death however, and may be exiled if they violate it to extremes. Those who live outside this code are known as strangers and are not welcome within the Troops' territories.
  • Foxes are loyal mates usually, though it is not uncommon for there to be unfaithfulness or torn emotions. Fox couples are referred to as breeding pairs, and foxes may be in heterosexual or homosexual relationships.
  • Vixens are pregnant for around 53 days before giving birth to a littler of 4-5 kits on average, though there can be less. Kits are born with very short, black fur, and are deaf and blind. For the first month of their life, kits cannot be left for a long duration of they risk dying, so vixens spend most of their time in the nursery at this time, relying on their Troop-mates or mate to fetch them food and water.
